We are looking for a compassionate and resilient Behaviour Support Mentor to join a welcoming specialist school in the Hastings area. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people who need additional guidance to manage their behaviour, regulate their emotions, and engage positively with education.

Your Responsibilities

As a Behaviour Support Mentor in the Hastings area, you will:

  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups throughout the school day.
  • Encourage positive behaviour through patience, consistency, and encouragement.
  • Help pupils develop emotional regulation, resilience, and social skills.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to create personalised support strategies.
  • Assist students in accessing learning and remaining engaged in lessons.
  • Respond calmly and confidently to challenging situations using positive behaviour techniques.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Record observations and contribute to pupil progress reviews where required.

Essential Requirements

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
