College Teaching Assistant

£76 Per Day

Teaching Assistant – Worthing & Shoreham, West Sussex – Full-time – 8:30 – 3:30 Monday to Friday, Term Time. £76-79 per day.

Being a driver is not necessary as both sites are near the train station, but advantageous.

We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at a special needs college split between Worthing & Shoreham. Our team caters for young adults aged 16-19 years who have learning difficulties and additional needs.

The school provides education (functional maths & English, creative arts and design & technology) as well as volunteering opportunities in the community for their young people.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the pupils in achieving their full potential, working under the direction of the class teacher and director. The role will involve working with individual pupils or small groups of pupils with varying learning difficulties and additional needs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils in their learning and development
  • Providing one-to-one or small group support as directed by the class teacher
  • Assisting with the preparation and delivery of lessons
  • Monitoring and reporting on pupil progress and behaviour
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, teachers, and parents/guardians
  • Encouraging and motivating pupils to reach their full potential
  • Participating in training sessions and staff meetings as required

Requirements:

  • Experience working with (or life experience of) children/adults with special educational needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive and proactive attitude
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
