We are currently recruiting Complex Needs Assistants to join a specialist SEMH school in West Drayton from September.
This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs within a specialist school environment. You will work closely with teaching staff and the wider support team to help pupils engage with learning, develop positive relationships, and achieve their individual targets.
The role will include:
- Supporting pupils within the classroom on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Assisting with learning activities and behaviour management strategies.
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and engagement.
- Encouraging independence, resilience, and positive decision-making.
- Building positive relationships with pupils to support their social and emotional development.
- Helping to create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to meet pupils’ individual needs.
- Must have a valid drivers license, as will need to drive the school car,
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH, or challenging behaviours, ideally within a school, care, youth work, or support setting.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to maintain professional boundaries while building trust and rapport with pupils.
- Experience using behaviour management strategies or supporting emotional regulation is desirable.
- A genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs.
- Valid drivers license.
Training and ongoing support will be provided.
