💛 Complex Needs Teaching Assistant – Shoreham

Start: ASAP
Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm
Pay: From £92 per day
Contract: Temp to Perm (12‑week period)

Imagine stepping into a school where children with additional needs are genuinely championed, where every small win is celebrated, and where your calm, steady presence can transform a child’s school day.

A mainstream primary in Shoreham is looking for someone who brings warmth, resilience and real SEN experience — someone who knows that progress looks different for every child and is motivated by the moments that truly matter.

🌱 What the role actually looks like

This isn’t a “sit and support” job.
This is hands-on, thoughtful, adaptive support for a child with complex needs who needs a trusted adult by their side.

You’ll be:

  • tuning into emotional cues and helping the child self-regulate
  • adjusting activities so learning feels accessible and achievable
  • reducing sensory overwhelm and creating a calm space when needed
  • working closely with teachers and external specialists
  • ensuring the pupil is safe, supported and included throughout the school day

Every day will look a little different — and that’s exactly why the right person will love it.

🌟 Who will thrive in this role

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • experienced in supporting complex SEN (ASD, sensory needs, communication differences, medical/physical needs, or behavioural challenges)
  • patient, grounded and consistent
  • quick to build trust, slow to judge
  • able to stay calm under pressure
  • confident working 1:1 and following personalised plans
  • reliable, professional and genuinely committed to long‑term support
  • holding a DBS on the Update Service or ready to apply right away

🌈 What the school offers

  • a leadership team who truly value their support staff
  • thoughtful SEN practice and ongoing guidance
  • opportunities for training and development
  • a path into a permanent post after 12 weeks
  • a chance to be the person who changes a child’s school experience for the better

If you’re the kind of SEN professional who lights up when a child makes the tiniest but biggest step forward, this role will feel like home.
