De‑escalation Mentor – SEMH School (Dover, Kent)
Start: ASAP or after May half term
Contract: Full-time

We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Dover who are looking to recruit an experienced De‑escalation Mentor to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

This role is suited to someone confident managing challenging behaviour and skilled in de‑escalating situations to help pupils remain safe, engaged, and regulated within the school environment.

The role will involve:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs during periods of dysregulation
  • Actively de‑escalating challenging situations in a calm and appropriate manner
  • Working 1:1, in small groups, and within the classroom
  • Supporting pupils to develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies
  • Working closely with teaching, pastoral, and leadership teams

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working in SEMH environments or with pupils with SEMH needs
  • Is confident in behaviour management and de‑escalation techniques
  • Can remain calm under pressure and build strong, trusting relationships
  • Is resilient, patient, and consistent
  • Is available to start ASAP or after May half term
