We are currently recruiting a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join two specialist academy provisions in Wandsworth.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced safeguarding professional to provide strategic leadership for safeguarding and child protection across both settings, ensuring safeguarding remains at the heart of school culture and practice while supporting positive outcomes for vulnerable learners.

The role will include:

  • Providing strategic leadership for safeguarding and child protection across both provisions, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education.
  • Leading and managing safeguarding systems, statutory processes, and complex safeguarding cases, including Child Protection, Child in Need, Early Help, Prevent, and LADO referrals.
  • Line managing Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads and safeguarding staff, providing professional support, supervision, and quality assurance across both academy sites.
  • Working collaboratively with senior leaders, therapists, attendance teams, families, and external agencies to improve outcomes for vulnerable learners.
  • Monitoring safeguarding, attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing data to identify trends, drive continuous improvement, and ensure safeguarding practice remains consistent across both provisions.
  • Promoting a strong culture of safeguarding and providing guidance and support to staff on safeguarding matters.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Significant experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) within an educational setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and multi-agency working, including experience managing complex safeguarding and child protection casework.
  • Experience leading safeguarding teams and overseeing statutory processes, including Child Protection, Child in Need, Early Help, Prevent, and LADO referrals.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with learners, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
  • Experience analysing safeguarding, attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing data to identify trends and drive improvement.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND and SEMH.
