Director of Learning – Alternative Provision in Hassocks

Pay: L18–L20
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm (term time only)

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Learning to join an Alternative Provision setting in Hassocks. This is a key leadership role, focused on supporting students with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, within a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the quality of teaching, learning, and curriculum delivery
  • Support and develop teaching and support staff
  • Oversee student progress, attainment, and outcomes
  • Implement effective behaviour and engagement strategies
  • Work closely with senior leadership, external agencies, and parents
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Proven leadership experience within education
  • Strong understanding of SEMH and alternative provision settings
  • Experience supporting staff development and improving outcomes
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A calm, resilient, and proactive approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
