Are you passionate about supporting young people’s emotional wellbeing and helping them thrive in education?

We are working with a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Horley that is seeking a dedicated and empathetic ELSA to join their team. This full-time role involves working closely with pupils aged 11–17 who may face challenges with emotional regulation, anxiety, trauma, or behavioural needs.


πŸ’¬ About the Role

  • Delivering 1:1 and small group emotional literacy sessions
  • Supporting pupils with self-esteem, resilience, and social skills
  • Helping students manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies
  • Creating a safe, trusting space for pupils to express themselves

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
  • A calm, nurturing approach and strong emotional intelligence
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain boundaries
  • ELSA training or willingness to undertake it (support may be provided)

πŸŽ“ Desirable Skills

  • Background in youth work, counselling, or pastoral support
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice
  • Experience in a secondary or specialist setting
