Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Full-time English Teacher to join our innovative educational institution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English language and literature, coupled with expertise in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging English lessons for students across various age groups and ability levels, with a focus on accommodating SEMH and SEND requirements.
  • Create differentiated lesson plans and teaching materials that cater to the diverse needs of students, including those with SEMH and SEND challenges.
  • Implement effective behavior management strategies to maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and relevant staff members.
  • Collaborate with the SEND department to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and develop strategies for supporting their academic and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and interventions.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in English teaching, SEMH, and SEND support.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide literacy initiatives.
  • Organize and supervise extracurricular activities related to English language and literature.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching English at the secondary level
  • Demonstrated experience working with students with SEMH needs and SEND
  • In-depth knowledge of the English National Curriculum and current educational trends
  • Strong understanding of SEMH and SEND strategies and interventions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning
