English Teacher – Secondary School

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join a secondary school in Crowborough on a full-time basis, starting immediately. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed practitioner who is passionate about English and driven to inspire pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English lessons, supporting pupil progress, and contributing positively to the wider life of the school. You will join a supportive department with a strong focus on engagement, literacy development, and high standards of behaviour and achievement.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and delivering engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum
Teaching across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience is advantageous but not essential)
Assessing, monitoring, and reporting on pupil progress and attainment
Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and outcomes
Using a range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners
Contributing to departmental planning, moderation, and development
Fulfilling pastoral responsibilities where required
Working collaboratively with colleagues and support staff

Person Specification

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
Experience teaching within a UK secondary school setting
Confident classroom practitioner with effective behaviour management skills
Ability to motivate and inspire students of varying abilities
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Available to start immediately
