English Teacher – Secondary School

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join a secondary school in Crowborough on a full-time basis, starting immediately. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed practitioner who is passionate about English and driven to inspire pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English lessons, supporting pupil progress, and contributing positively to the wider life of the school. You will join a supportive department with a strong focus on engagement, literacy development, and high standards of behaviour and achievement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teaching across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience is advantageous but not essential)
  • Assessing, monitoring, and reporting on pupil progress and attainment
  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and outcomes
  • Using a range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners
  • Contributing to departmental planning, moderation, and development
  • Fulfilling pastoral responsibilities where required
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and support staff

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
  • Experience teaching within a UK secondary school setting
  • Confident classroom practitioner with effective behaviour management skills
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students of varying abilities
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Available to start immediately
