Food Technician & Barista – SEN School

£92.59 – £120 per day, depending on experience
Monday to Friday | Term Time Only | September Start | Temp to Perm Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Food Technician to join a specialist SEN school in Wallington, supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs, including autism, speech and language needs, and associated learning difficulties.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Food Technician to support practical Food Technology lessons while helping pupils develop essential cooking, life, and independence skills. Barista experience would be an advantage but is not essential, as the school also has a café environment that students use to build employability skills.

The Role:

  • Supporting the delivery of Food Technology lessons
  • Preparing ingredients, equipment, and resources for practical sessions
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised kitchen in line with food hygiene regulations
  • Supporting students to develop cooking, food preparation, and hospitality skills
  • Assisting with the school’s café provision when required
  • Promoting independence, confidence, and positive engagement with learning
  • Working closely with teaching staff and the wider support team

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working as a Food Technician within a school is essential
  • Experience supporting practical Food Technology lessons
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN or SEND is desirable
  • Barista experience would be a bonus but is not essential
  • Organised, reliable, and able to work well as part of a team
  • Passionate about supporting young people to develop practical life skills
