Pink Tile Education are working in partnership with a specialist Provision in the Burgess Hill area, who are seeking a passionate and adaptable Food Technology Teacher to join their team from September.
This provision supports pupils aged 5–16 who are unable to access mainstream education due to medical needs, behavioural challenges, social, emotional and mental health needs, or other barriers to learning. The school provides a highly supportive and nurturing environment, helping students rebuild confidence, regulate emotions, and re-engage with education.
The successful candidate will be teaching Food Technology across secondary age groups, delivering engaging and practical lessons tailored to meet a range of abilities and needs. The school are looking for someone who can build positive relationships with students, remain calm under pressure, and create an environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn.
This role would suit someone who understands that behaviour is often a form of communication and who can approach challenges with patience, consistency, and emotional resilience.
Be a qualified teacher or experienced unqualified teacher with strong Food Technology knowledge
Have experience working with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs, or vulnerable young people
Be confident managing challenging behaviour, including verbal dysregulation
Have a strong understanding of mental health and trauma-informed practice
Be creative and engaging in their teaching approach
Be able to build trusting and positive relationships with students
Be flexible, resilient, and proactive in supporting young people
The school are also open to candidates with transferable experience from specialist settings, youth work, mentoring, care, or therapeutic environments who have a passion for supporting young people through practical and vocational learning.
