Are you a passionate Forest School Teacher, Outdoor Learning Practitioner or experienced Outdoor Educator looking for a rewarding opportunity where you can make a genuine difference to young people?

We are recruiting a Forest School Teacher to join an Alternative Provision setting in the Bexhill area, supporting young people who may have additional needs, SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can lead and develop an engaging Forest School and outdoor learning programme, while also building strong, positive relationships with young people who may have struggled within traditional education.

The Role

You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging Forest School and outdoor learning activities, helping pupils develop practical skills, confidence, resilience and independence.

You will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Forest School and outdoor learning sessions
  • Develop and lead the Forest School provision
  • Support pupils with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
  • Encourage confidence, resilience and independence
  • Use practical and outdoor activities to engage pupils who may struggle in a traditional classroom
  • Manage behaviour calmly and consistently
  • Promote positive attitudes towards learning and personal development
  • Work closely with teaching and support staff
  • Follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures
  • Adapt activities to meet individual pupil needs

What We’re Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Forest School Leader / Forest School Teacher experience
  • Experience delivering outdoor learning or practical education
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Experience supporting SEND, SEMH or challenging behaviour
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • A patient, calm and resilient approach
  • Excellent relationship-building skills
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for outdoor education
  • The ability to engage young people who may be reluctant to learn
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential

Experience from Other Backgrounds Considered
