Pink Tile Education is supporting a welcoming secondary school in the Horsham area who are looking for a dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate who is considering a career in teaching, education, youth work or a related field. You will gain valuable hands-on experience within a secondary school while working alongside experienced teachers and supporting pupils with their learning and development.

Full-time and part-time roles are available, with working hours between 8:00am and 3:30pm. You will be supported by the school and Pink Tile Education throughout your placement, giving you the opportunity to build your confidence, develop your classroom skills and gain a real insight into life within a secondary school.

Day to day, you will:

  • Support pupils in the classroom, helping them stay focused, engaged and confident with their learning.

  • Work alongside teachers and support staff, assisting with lessons and providing additional support to pupils who may benefit from extra guidance.

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils develop their understanding, confidence and independence across different subjects.

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, acting as a friendly and encouraging role model and supporting their wider personal development.

  • Support pupils who may face barriers to learning, offering patience, reassurance and encouragement to help them overcome challenges.

  • Assist with classroom activities and resources, helping teachers create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Gain valuable insight into teaching and education, developing practical experience that can support your future career ambitions.

What we’re looking for:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification, or someone who is currently completing their studies.

  • A genuine passion for working with young people and an interest in education.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Confidence in building positive relationships with secondary-aged pupils.

  • A patient, approachable and enthusiastic nature.

  • Someone who is reliable, adaptable and keen to learn.

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a supportive school team.

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.

  • A genuine interest in potentially pursuing a career in teaching or education.
