We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Head Teacher to lead a specialist SEMH school in Burgess Hill. This senior role involves overseeing teaching and learning, staff management, student welfare, and safeguarding compliance, while shaping the school’s strategic vision to ensure excellent outcomes for students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and pastoral care

  • Manage, support, and develop teaching and support staff

  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment

  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and statutory requirements

  • Oversee budgets, resources, and school performance

  • Engage with parents, carers, and the wider community

  • Lead initiatives to enhance student wellbeing, behaviour, and academic progress

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Leadership experience in SEMH or SEN schools

  • Strong understanding of SEMH provision and supporting complex needs

  • Knowledge of safeguarding, statutory frameworks, and school governance

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills

  • Collaborative, motivational leadership style

  • Passion for improving outcomes for children with SEMH needs
