We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Hove. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a supportive school community where staff work together to ensure every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

The role will involve supporting pupils with a range of additional needs through 1:1 interventions and small group support, helping children to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SEND staff, and school leadership to provide high-quality support that enables children to access learning and thrive within the classroom environment.

This is a rewarding position for someone who is patient, compassionate, and committed to making a lasting impact on children’s educational journeys.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with additional learning needs
  • Delivering small group interventions to support academic progress
  • Assisting children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and other SEND requirements
  • Supporting learning across the curriculum
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social interactions
  • Implementing behaviour and support strategies where required
  • Monitoring pupil progress and reporting observations to teachers
  • Helping to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a primary school or educational setting
  • Experience supporting children with SEND
  • Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs
  • Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or a related field
