Are you patient, caring, and passionate about helping children reach their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Individual Needs Assistant (INA) to support a pupil with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at a welcoming school in the Hastings area.

This rewarding role involves providing consistent, tailored support to help one child access learning, build confidence, and thrive both academically and socially. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity with the potential to become a permanent member of the school’s team.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a 1:1 Individual Needs Assistant in the Hastings area, you will:

  • Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with SEND throughout the school day.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the child’s individual needs and learning style.
  • Encourage independence while offering reassurance and guidance where needed.
  • Support the child’s emotional wellbeing, confidence, and social development.
  • Help implement strategies outlined in the child’s EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan), where applicable.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent support.
  • Monitor progress and record observations to help inform future learning plans.
  • Assist with classroom activities, transitions, playtimes, and other daily routines.
  • Promote positive behaviour and provide a calm, nurturing presence throughout the day.

Essential Requirements

  • A genuine passion for working with children with SEND.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to remain calm, patient, and positive.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
