1:1 Individual Needs Assistant (INA) – SEMH School

Pay: £14.25 per hour, depending on experience
Contract: Temp to Perm
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning?
We are looking for a 1:1 Individual Needs Assistant (INA) to join a specialist SEMH school in Hastings, supporting a pupil on a one-to-one basis and helping them feel safe, engaged and able to access their education.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient and confident, with a genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs.
The Role
As a 1:1 INA, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day
- Supporting learning and engagement in the classroom
- Helping the pupil manage emotions and regulate behaviour
- Building a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil
- Encouraging confidence, independence and social development
- Supporting positive behaviour and following individual support strategies
- Helping the pupil transition between lessons and activities
- Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral/support team
- Providing reassurance and consistency throughout the school day
- Maintaining a safe, calm and positive learning environment
- Recording and communicating relevant observations and progress
Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone who is:

- A confident communicator
- Positive and encouraging
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
- Passionate about helping young people succeed
Previous SEN/SEMH or school experience is highly desirable, but not essential.
