About the School

A welcoming and well-established primary school in Newhaven is seeking an experienced and dedicated KS1 Teacher to join their team on a long-term supply basis. The school is known for its supportive leadership, inclusive ethos, and strong focus on both academic achievement and pupil wellbeing.

About the Role

This is a long-term supply position within Key Stage 1, offering consistency and the opportunity to make a real impact within the classroom.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging lessons, while creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the KS1 curriculum
  • Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress effectively
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND
  • Create a positive, well-managed, and engaging classroom environment
  • Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider staff
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers where required

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching within KS1 – essential
  • Strong understanding of the UK primary curriculum
  • Confident in delivering core subjects, including phonics, English, and Maths
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A proactive, reliable, and committed approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Desirable

  • Experience with phonics schemes such as Read Write Inc. or Letters and Sounds
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • A proven track record of strong pupil progress
