About the School

This nurturing and specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school supports children aged 5 to 18 who have experienced significant trauma, unstable home environments, or emotional challenges. Many pupils arrive with low confidence, low self-esteem, and difficulties engaging with education in a traditional setting.

Through a trauma-informed, therapeutic approach, the school provides pupils with a safe, structured environment to rebuild trust and achieve meaningful progress – both academically and emotionally.

The Role

We are seeking a resilient, passionate, and empathetic KS2 Teacher to join the school’s primary team from September 2025.

You will teach a small class of up to 5 pupils, supported by a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA). Each day brings variety, challenge, and the opportunity to make a life-changing impact on the children you teach.

This position is initially temporary, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate who demonstrates commitment and impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver creative, engaging, and therapeutic lessons tailored to individual pupil needs

  • Foster a safe, consistent learning environment that promotes emotional regulation

  • Build trusting relationships with children who may have difficulty forming attachments

  • Collaborate closely with LSA(s), therapists, and wider staff to support progress

  • Focus on social, emotional, and academic development equally

  • Model resilience, empathy, and consistency every day

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential

  • Experience teaching in KS2 (SEMH or SEND experience desirable but not essential)

  • A trauma-informed, nurturing approach to teaching and behaviour

  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities

  • Emotional resilience, patience, and a sense of humour

Why Join This School?

  • Small class sizes – maximum of 5 pupils per class

  • High staff-to-pupil ratio, including full-time LSA support

  • Opportunities for CPD and professional growth in specialist education

  • A supportive, values-led team that prioritises pupil wellbeing

  • Free lunches and a positive staff culture

  • The chance to truly make a difference every day
