Teaching Assistant

£85 Per Day

Teaching Assistant (SEMH) – Lancing, West Sussex – Full-time –  £85 per day, term time. 

The school caters to students between the ages of 10 to 18 years who experience difficulties regulating their emotions, which can lead to challenging behaviour. The role is a long-term, term-time post that pays £85 per day. The working hours are 8:30am to 4:00pm. The first 60 days will be temporary, but the post will look to become permanent after this duration.

The school is looking for individuals who are passionate about working with young people and are committed to making a positive impact in their lives. The ideal candidate must have a background in youth work or experience working with young people.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the class teacher and the students in the classroom
  • Work with students one-on-one or in small groups to provide additional support
  • Help to manage challenging behaviour and support students in regulating their emotions
  • Create a safe and nurturing learning environment
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of lessons and activities
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals

Requirements:

  • A background in youth work or experience working with young people
  • GCSE passes in both English and Maths
  • Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with colleagues
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students
  • Willingness to undergo training and professional development
