A brand-new, specialist SEMH school in Horley is looking for an experienced and empathetic Learning Pastoral Assistant to join their growing team. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the culture and support systems of a school dedicated to transforming lives.


💼 The Role

  • Provide pastoral and learning support to pupils aged 11–16 with SEMH needs
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel safe, understood, and ready to learn
  • Support behaviour regulation, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in lessons
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider pastoral team
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture from the ground up

👤 About You

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, autism, or challenging behaviour
  • Calm, consistent, and emotionally intelligent approach
  • Skilled in de-escalation, restorative practice, and trauma-informed support
  • Able to work flexibly and collaboratively in a small team
  • Driver preferred due to the school’s location and transport links
