πŸ“ Location: Brighton
πŸ•’ Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
πŸ’° Daily Rate: £89
πŸ“… Start Date: As soon as possible
πŸ‘¦ Role: 1:1 Support for a Child with SEMH Needs

We’re flexible and believe the right person matters more than the hours — job share and part-time applications are warmly welcomed.

About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our caring and inclusive school community in Brighton. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide 1:1 support for a child with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them to build confidence, develop self-regulation skills, and thrive within the classroom environment.

You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver consistent, personalised support — using patience, empathy, and creativity to help the pupil overcome barriers to learning and make positive progress.

Your Responsibilities

  • Supporting a pupil with SEMH needs in both academic and social settings

  • Promoting emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour, and self-esteem

  • Adapting tasks and resources to suit individual learning styles

  • Implementing strategies to manage behaviour and encourage engagement

  • Building trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families to create a consistent support network

About You

We’re seeking someone who is:

  • Kind, patient, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young people

  • Able to build strong, nurturing relationships based on trust and respect

  • Confident working as part of a collaborative school team

  • Experienced in supporting pupils with SEMH or SEND (desirable, but not essential — training will be provided)

What We Offer

  • A warm and supportive school environment where every member of staff is valued

  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities

  • Flexibility through part-time or job share arrangements

  • The chance to make a real and lasting difference in a child’s educational journey

Safeguarding

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff are expected to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to hold or obtain an Enhanced DBS check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.

How to Apply

If you are passionate about supporting children’s social, emotional, and educational development, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now to join our team and help make a difference every day.

Would you like me to make it sound slightly more formal (for a job advert board) or keep this friendly and approachable tone for something like a school’s social media or newsletter?
