SEMH Teaching Assistant / SEND Teaching Assistant – Behaviour Support

Salary: £93–£100 per day

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm

Pink Tile Education is currently recruiting for an experienced and passionate SEMH Teaching Assistant / SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils across primary and secondary age groups at a school in Croydon.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Support Assistant, SEMH Support Worker, SEND Support Worker or Support Worker with experience supporting children and young people with SEMH, SEND and challenging behaviour.

The successful candidate will be confident working with pupils who may present with behavioural challenges, emotional difficulties, social difficulties and additional learning needs. You will play an important role in helping pupils regulate their emotions, engage with learning, develop positive relationships and achieve their potential.

SEMH Teaching Assistant – The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and SEND needs
• Support pupils with challenging behaviour and behavioural difficulties
• Help pupils to manage emotions and develop positive behaviour strategies
• Support pupils to access learning and participate in classroom activities
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and the wider pastoral team
• Help create a calm, safe and supportive learning environment
• Follow individual support plans and school behaviour strategies
• Promote positive behaviour, independence and engagement
• Provide consistent support throughout the school day

The Ideal SEMH / SEND Teaching Assistant

The school is looking for someone who is calm, patient, resilient and confident when working with children and young people who display challenging behaviour.

You should ideally have:

• Previous experience supporting SEMH
• Experience working with SEND
• Experience supporting challenging behaviour
• Experience working with children or young people
• The ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to build strong and positive relationships with pupils
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s education and wellbeing
• A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
