Learning Support Assistant – Secondary SEND School (Burgess Hill Area)

We are currently seeking a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEND school located in the Burgess Hill area. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support students with autism, helping them engage in learning, grow in confidence, and develop essential life skills within a supportive and structured setting.

This role would suit someone with prior experience in SEND who is eager to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives. There is potential for the position to become permanent following a 12-week period, subject to a successful interview with the school.

About the Role:

  • Provide support to secondary-aged students with autism, both one-to-one and in small group settings
  • Assist in delivering personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
  • Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to maintain a calm, inclusive classroom environment
  • Encourage the development of communication and everyday life skills

  • Location: Burgess Hill area
  • Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm
  • Daily Rate: £106.88
  • Setting: Secondary SEND school
  • Contract: Temp-to-perm opportunity after 12 working weeks

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND (essential)
  • Good understanding of autism and effective support strategies
  • A patient, flexible, and positive approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to reach their full potential
