About the School

We are working with a fantastic SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) school near Guildford that provides a supportive, therapeutic, and structured learning environment for young people who need additional emotional and behavioural support. The school has a brilliant team who work collaboratively to help students re-engage with learning and build confidence.

Some students present with challenging behaviour, so the ability to stay calm, patient, and consistent is essential.


The Role – Maths Learning Mentor (SEMH)

We are looking for a confident, resilient, and proactive Maths Learning Mentor to support students across KS3–KS4. You will be helping pupils who have disengaged from education, lack numeracy confidence, or require tailored support to achieve their maths targets.

Your duties will include:

  • Supporting students with numeracy and maths confidence
  • Running 1:1 and small group intervention sessions
  • Helping to re-engage pupils who may struggle with behaviour or focus
  • Providing emotional support and building positive, trusting relationships
  • Using creative approaches to make maths accessible and engaging
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and behaviour leads

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in SEMH, SEN, behaviour mentoring, youth work, or alternative provision
  • Strong maths skills and confidence supporting numeracy
  • A calm, consistent and empathetic approach
  • Someone who can build rapport quickly with young people
  • A valid DBS (preferably on the Update Service)
  • A driver — the school is not accessible by public transport
