We’re looking for a caring and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our SEMH provision in Horley. If you’re passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and thrive in a busy, rewarding environment, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support small groups and individual pupils with SEMH needs, implementing personalised strategies.
• Promote positive behaviour through consistent, calm approaches and de-escalation techniques.
• Assist class teachers in planning and delivering differentiated activities.
• Support pupils’ emotional regulation and social skills through therapeutic and tailored interventions.
• Record and report progress, liaising with teaching staff and SENCO where appropriate.
Skills & Experience / What We’re Looking For:
• Empathy, patience and resilience when working with challenging behaviour.
• Good communication and rapport-building skills with pupils and staff.
• Ability to follow behaviour plans and adapt strategies in the moment.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and a commitment to child welfare.
• Transferable skills: active listening, teamwork, organisation, consistency, problem-solving.
