Are you passionate about supporting primary-aged children with SEND and SEMH needs?
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and resilient Primary SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the Surrey area.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and is confident supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, challenging behaviour and a range of additional needs.
As a Primary SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to provide targeted support to children who require additional help with their learning, behaviour, communication and emotional development.
You may provide 1:1 and small-group support, both within the classroom and across the wider school environment.
The role will involve supporting children with a range of needs, including:
You will help children overcome barriers to learning while encouraging their confidence, independence, emotional regulation and social development.
We are looking for someone who is patient, caring, resilient and enthusiastic about working with children who may require additional support.
Previous experience working with SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD or challenging behaviour is desirable. Experience within a primary school, SEN setting, nursery, childcare, youth work, residential care or support work would also be beneficial.
You may already be an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or Behaviour Support Worker, or you may be looking to begin or develop your career within education.
Most importantly, you will have the ability to build positive relationships, remain calm under pressure and provide consistent support to children who may find school challenging.
