SEND Learning Support Assistant – Portsmouth

Portsmouth | £89–£93 per day | Full-Time | Term Time Only | September Start (or sooner)

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Portsmouth is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join their SEND team. The school supports children with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs.

This role would suit someone patient, resilient and caring who enjoys building positive relationships and helping children develop confidence both academically and emotionally.

The role:

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Working alongside class teachers and the SENCO
• Helping children access learning in the classroom
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
• Building trust and consistency with pupils who require additional support

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people (school based experience is desirable but not essential)
• Is calm, adaptable and proactive
• Has an interest in SEND, Psychology, Education or Child Development
• Wants to build long-term experience within schools
• Can commit to a full school week
