Pink Tile Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEND/SEMH provision in the Wadhurst area seeking a dedicated and resilient Primary Teacher to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator who wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD, communication difficulties and associated learning needs. The role is available on a long-term temporary basis with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
We welcome applications from qualified teachers (QTS) as well as experienced Unqualified Teachers who can demonstrate a strong background working within SEND, SEMH, Alternative Provision, PRU, residential childcare or similar specialist settings.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated lessons to small classes of pupils who require a nurturing, trauma-informed and highly supportive approach to learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Differentiate learning to support a range of SEND and SEMH profiles.
- Create a safe, structured and positive learning environment.
- Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and therapeutic approaches.
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate assessment records.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists and senior leaders.
- Contribute to EHCP targets, reviews and pupil outcomes.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families and external professionals.
- Promote safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times.
Essential Skills and Experience
- QTS, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification desirable.
- Experienced Unqualified Teachers will also be considered.
- Experience working with SEND, SEMH or vulnerable pupils.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Resilient, adaptable and solution-focused approach.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
- Ability to engage and motivate pupils who may have experienced barriers to education.
Desirable Experience
- Alternative Provision or PRU experience.
- Autism, ADHD or communication and interaction needs experience.
- Trauma-informed practice.
- EHCP planning and review experience.
- Team Teach, PRICE or other positive behaviour support training.
