You will have responsibility for the teaching and learning of pupils in Key Stage 2, ensuring that all young people make at least good progress through exciting, engaging and challenging teaching.

Responsible to the Head of Education, the Primary Teacher will have responsibility for devising and teaching the curriculum and assessing and reporting pupil progress.  They will have experience of safeguarding systems; high expectations of their pupils and a proven ability to use positive behaviour management strategies effectively to support pupils with challenging behaviour.

This post is for an SEN Teacher responsible for the teaching of students with Social, Emotional and Mental health needs (SEMH), Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs and other complex needs, within the school’s Primary Unit. All pupils that attend Farney Close School have an Education Health and Care Plan.

The role will also encompass maintaining high standards in Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Risk Assessments and Behaviour Support Plans.

You will lead a classroom and be committed to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment where everyone (pupils and staff), is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential and aspirations. The work of the school is both varied and challenging and we form the cornerstone of many pupils’ lives through a person-centred approach that focuses on Education, Care and Therapy.

Main purpose of the job:
• To teach their subject to Key Stages 2. The School follows the National Curriculum.
• Be responsible for the learning and achievement of all pupils in class ensuring equality of opportunity for all.
• Be responsible and accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct.
• Treat pupils with dignity, build relationships rooted in mutual respect, and at all times observe proper boundaries appropriate to a teacher’s professional position.
• Work proactively and effectively in collaboration and partnership with learners, parents/carers, Governors, other staff and external agencies in the best interests of
pupils.
• Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.

 

Qualifications
• Qualified Teacher Status.
