Primary Teaching Assistant (Complex Needs) – Eastbourne – Full-time – Start ASAP

TRIALS TO BE HELD ACROSS NOVEMBER & DECEMBER

Our client is a fantastic specialist SEND School catering for pre-diagnosis ASD and complex needs. The role involves working 1:1 & in groups with young people aged 4-11 with complex needs, such as; wheelchair bound, non-verbal, pre-diagnosis ASD. The school is an amazing setting for young people with therapeutic resources & you will receive second-to-none guidance on carrying out your role safely, positively & effectively.

We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and inspirational individual to join our client’s team with proven track records in achieving high standards of quality.

No experience working with young people? No problem! Our client provides excellent support & they are always in search of people that have the right mentality, home experience or transferrable skills from other sectors (hospitality, retail, customer service, care & medical, e.g.).

Key areas of responsibility

  • Supporting the delivery of lessons
  • Working closely with individual pupils on a 1:1 basis to support their learning.
  • Assisting group learning & activities
  • Promoting and enabling social development opportunities
  • Promoting positivity & ensuring a safe learning environment

Requirements

  • Desire & passion for working with young people & supporting those with complex needs
  • Understanding of vulnerable young people & how to approach sensitive situations
  • Experience of working with students with a range of complex needs, including ASC or Emotional, Social and Attachment related needs (desirable)
  • Experience working with behaviour & the use of interventions/strategies in education (desirable)
