About Us

A brand-new specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Horley, dedicated to creating a nurturing, inclusive, and therapeutic learning environment. We support children and young people with SEMH needs to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.


The Role

We are looking for a passionate and resilient PSHE Teacher to join our founding team. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering a PSHE curriculum that supports students’ personal development, emotional literacy, and life skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver a creative, inclusive PSHE curriculum tailored to SEMH learners.
  • Create a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Promote emotional well-being, resilience, and social development.
  • Collaborate with the pastoral team, SENCO, and therapists to support individual needs.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives around safeguarding and personal development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Engage with families and external professionals to support holistic development.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching PSHE or a related subject.
  • Understanding of SEMH needs and trauma-informed practice.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and a commitment to inclusive education.

Desirable:

  • Experience in specialist or alternative provision settings.
  • Training in mental health, safeguarding, or therapeutic approaches.
  • Ability to contribute to other curriculum areas or enrichment activities.
