We are currently seeking a Pupil Engagement Officer to join schools across the Bromley area for an immediate start.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people, improving pupil engagement and helping students overcome barriers to learning.
The successful candidate will work closely with pupils, teachers and school staff to encourage positive engagement with education, promote positive behaviour and help pupils develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed.
As a Pupil Engagement Officer, you will:
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
Support pupils who may be disengaged from learning or struggling to access education.
Encourage positive attitudes towards learning and school.
Work with pupils who may have SEND and SEMH needs.
Provide individual and small-group support where required.
Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence.
Support pupils with emotional, social and behavioural needs.
Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils understand appropriate boundaries.
Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and the wider pastoral team.
Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning and improve their engagement.
Assist with classroom activities and learning where appropriate.
Contribute towards creating a positive, inclusive and supportive school environment.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Experience working with children or young people.
Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, behavioural or additional needs.
A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
Confidence managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner.
The resilience and patience to support pupils who may be reluctant or disengaged from learning.
A proactive and flexible approach.
The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
Previous experience as a Pupil Engagement Officer, Pastoral Support Worker, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Support Assistant, Youth Worker or similar would be advantageous.
