Residential Childcare Worker (Therapeutic Support) – Brighton

Location: Brighton & Hove
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Shift-based, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins

Are you a compassionate and resilient person looking to make a real difference in young people’s lives? We’re seeking a Residential Childcare Worker to join a therapeutic children’s home in Brighton. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a meaningful career in trauma-informed residential childcare, supporting children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs (SEMH).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent care and emotional support to children and young people with complex needs.

  • Help create a warm, safe, and nurturing home environment.

  • Support education, life skills, and positive routines.

  • Encourage healthy relationships and positive behaviours.

  • Participate in household tasks (cooking, cleaning, and daily living activities).

  • Keep accurate records and contribute to individual care plans.

  • Work collaboratively within a supportive, reflective team.

Requirements:

  • Experience (paid or voluntary) working with children, young people, or vulnerable groups.

  • Understanding of trauma, attachment, and therapeutic approaches to care.

  • Good communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.

  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and sleep-ins.

  • (Desirable) Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, and/or a full UK driving licence.

Full training and ongoing professional development are provided, with a clear pathway to progress towards a Therapeutic Carer role.

All posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. A current Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is preferred.
