Science Teacher – SEMH/SEND Specialist School

Pink Tile Education are working with a fantastic specialist SEMH/SEND school for boys aged 5–18, set within a beautiful rural site between Horsham and Billingshurst.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and resilient Science Teacher to join the school and deliver engaging Science lessons to pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working in a specialist environment and understands that positive relationships and effective behaviour management are key to successful learning.

The Role

You will be responsible for teaching Science across the secondary age range, adapting your teaching to meet the individual needs of pupils.

The role will involve:

  • Planning and delivering engaging Science lessons

  • Teaching pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs

  • Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, trauma and other additional needs

  • Differentiating lessons to meet a range of abilities and learning styles

  • Managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently

  • Building positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced significant barriers to education

  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and engagement

  • Creating a structured, safe and positive classroom environment

  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider specialist team

  • Encouraging pupils to develop confidence and re-engage with education

  • Contributing to a supportive, collaborative school environment

About You

We are looking for a qualified Science Teacher who:

  • Has strong classroom and behaviour management skills

  • Has experience working with SEND, SEMH or challenging behaviour

  • Has experience or a good understanding of supporting pupils with mental health needs

  • Is confident managing a classroom where behaviour can be challenging

  • Is patient, resilient and adaptable

  • Can build strong relationships with pupils

  • Understands the importance of consistency, boundaries and positive reinforcement

  • Is passionate about helping young people who have struggled in mainstream education

Previous experience in a special school, SEMH setting, alternative provision or SEND environment would be highly desirable.

Important Requirements

You must be a driver for this role.

The school is based in a rural location between Horsham and Billingshurst, and the site is not easily accessible by public transport. You must therefore have your own transport and be comfortable commuting to a rural school.

This is a well-established specialist school providing day and residential education for boys aged 5–18. The school supports pupils with a range of SEND, with particular expertise in autism, ADHD and trauma.
