We are looking for a resilient and passionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school supporting children aged 4–11 years.
This is a unique and rewarding role where you will help pupils manage their emotions, access education, and build trust in the adults around them.
We need someone who is:
✅ Reliable and consistent – these children need to know you’ll show up for them
✅ Thick-skinned and calm under pressure – behaviours can be challenging, but you understand they come from a place of trauma or unmet needs
✅ Emotionally strong – you can leave work at work and not take things personally
✅ Compassionate and patient – you genuinely care about helping pupils grow, learn, and feel safe
✅ Dedicated and committed – you want to make a real difference in the lives of children who need it most
✅ Adaptable – no two days are the same, and you’re flexible enough to roll with it
Supporting children 1:1 or in small groups with learning and emotional regulation
Building trusting relationships with pupils who have experienced disruption, trauma, or instability
Assisting with daily routines and creating structure and consistency
Collaborating with teachers and support staff to implement behaviour plans
Using de-escalation strategies and always approaching challenges with empathy
Experience in an SEMH, PRU, or SEN setting is desirable but not essential – what matters most is your attitude, resilience, and passion for working with these incredible young people.
Please apply with an up-to-date CV, and we’ll be in touch to arrange a call.
