Learning Support Assistant – SEMH School

📍 Havant, Hampshire
💷 £89 per day
📅 Ongoing Opportunities – Rolling Advert

Pink Tile Education regularly works with a specialist SEMH school in the Havant area and we are continuously looking to connect with Learning Support Assistants who are interested in working in this setting.

This school supports pupils aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The environment is structured, supportive and focused on helping students rebuild confidence, regulate emotions and re-engage with learning.

We are keen to hear from individuals who are confident supporting young people who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education and benefit from consistent, positive adult role models.

The Role

Learning Support Assistants in this setting work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils both inside and outside the classroom.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support

  • Helping pupils regulate behaviour and remain engaged with learning

  • Supporting structured classroom activities and routines

  • Encouraging positive relationships and communication

  • Promoting pupil wellbeing and safeguarding at all times

This is a challenging but highly rewarding environment where strong relationships, patience and consistency are key.

Ideal Candidates

We are particularly interested in people who have experience in:

  • SEMH or behaviour support

  • SEND schools or alternative provisions

  • Youth work or mentoring

  • Care or support work

  • Sports coaching or community work

However, we are also happy to speak with individuals who have the right personality, resilience and motivation to work with young people who need additional support.

Requirements

  • DBS on the Update Service

  • Up to date safeguarding training

  • A calm, patient and confident approach

  • Ability to build strong relationships with young people

Why Apply?

  • Regular opportunities within a well-established SEMH setting

  • A chance to gain valuable experience in specialist education

  • Support from a friendly and experienced education recruitment team

  • Opportunities for longer-term placements for the right candidates

Because this is a rolling advert, we welcome applications from candidates who may be available immediately or in the coming months.

If you are interested in working in a specialist SEMH school and making a genuine difference to young people, we would love to hear from you.
