A specialist SEMH school in Portsmouth is looking to appoint a SEMH Learning Mentor to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2026.

This unique setting supports pupils aged 11-16 who have faced significant barriers to mainstream education. The school adopts a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach and focuses heavily on building trust, confidence and emotional resilience.

With extensive pastoral support, outdoor learning programmes and industry-leading intervention strategies, this school provides young people with the opportunity to re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Support pupils with SEMH needs inside and outside the classroom
• Deliver targeted interventions and mentoring sessions
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Help pupils develop confidence and resilience
• Work alongside teaching, pastoral and therapeutic teams

Requirements:

• Experience working with young people in education, care, youth work or support settings
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Calm and proactive approach
• Understanding of SEMH needs is advantageous
