SEMH Teacher – Full-Time (Maternity Cover)

Job Summary
We are seeking a committed and skilled SEMH Teacher to join a specialist provision in Hailsham. This full-time role is a maternity cover position starting in February and working within a supportive Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). You will teach and support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them achieve academic progress and improved wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEMH needs
Create a safe, structured and therapeutic learning environment
Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral teams and external agencies
Implement behaviour support plans and use de-escalation strategies
Track pupil progress and contribute to EHCP reviews
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
Experience teaching pupils with SEMH or within an alternative provision
Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
Resilient, calm, adaptable and trauma-informed in your approach
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
