A welcoming and supportive primary school in the heart of Horsham is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a part-time basis.
This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support for a child with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Global Developmental Delay (GDD). The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the pupil access learning, develop social skills, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Adapt learning activities to suit the child’s individual needs.
- Promote engagement, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
- Support emotional regulation and implement agreed behaviour strategies when required.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting.
- Experience working with pupils with Autism and additional learning needs.
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
- Confidence managing and supporting children who may display challenging behaviours when dysregulated.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
