SEN Teaching Assistant

Virginia Water, Surrey | £14.25 per hour | Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 8:40am–3:20pm

A specialist SEN primary school in Virginia Water is looking for a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant / SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant or Support Worker with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), SEND and additional needs.

You will be supporting primary-aged pupils within a specialist school environment, helping them access learning, develop confidence and build positive relationships.

About the Role

• Support primary-aged pupils with SEN, SEND and additional needs
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required
• Help pupils access learning and participate in classroom activities
• Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Encourage pupils’ confidence, independence and engagement
• Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and the wider school team
• Help create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEND or additional needs
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker or similar
• A calm, patient and consistent approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
• A genuine interest in working within specialist education and SEN
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team

Previous experience within a specialist SEN school, primary school or SEND setting would be beneficial.
