A specialist primary SEN school in Croydon is seeking a caring, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA / SEND TA) to support children with speech, language and communication difficulties, including autistic spectrum conditions (ASC) and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
Supporting children to access classroom activities and engage with learning
Encouraging communication, social interaction and independence
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Adapting support to meet individual learning and communication needs
Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
Using a patient, flexible approach to support children who may find demands and transitions challenging
Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team
Helping create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
Previous experience supporting children with SEN, SEND or additional needs is desirable
Experience with speech, language and communication difficulties, autism/ASC or PDA would be beneficial
Patient, calm and compassionate
Resilient and adaptable, with a flexible approach to supporting individual needs
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Able to respond sensitively to children’s emotional and behavioural needs
A genuine passion for helping children learn, develop and thrive
Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, Primary Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Autism Support Assistant would be beneficial.
