A thriving primary school in Crawley is seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs within Key Stage 1.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships with children and helping them flourish both academically and socially. The successful candidate will become an important part of the school’s support team, working closely with teaching staff to ensure the child receives the guidance and encouragement they need throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual support for a pupil with additional learning needs
• Encourage participation and engagement during lessons
• Assist with emotional regulation, confidence-building and social development
• Adapt activities and resources to suit the child’s learning style
• Liaise effectively with teachers, the SENCO and parents where appropriate
• Monitor progress and contribute to support strategies
• Promote a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

• Has experience working with children in an educational, childcare or support setting
• Understands the needs of pupils with SEND
• Is patient, empathetic and resilient
• Can build strong, trusting relationships with children
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Is proactive and able to work as part of a team
• Has a genuine passion for supporting young learners
