Part-Time SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)

Are you an experienced SENCO, Inclusion Leader, or qualified teacher with a passion for supporting children with additional needs?

A welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in Shoreham is seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join their leadership team on a part-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to pupils across the school while working alongside a supportive Headteacher and experienced staff team.

The Role

As SENCO, you will lead the school’s SEND provision, ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing SEND provision across the school
  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties
  • Working closely with teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies
  • Leading EHCP reviews and coordinating SEN paperwork
  • Monitoring pupil progress and implementing effective interventions
  • Providing guidance and training to colleagues on inclusive practice
  • Ensuring statutory SEND requirements are met

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • National SENCO Award (or willingness to complete)
  • Previous experience as a SENCO, Assistant SENCO, Inclusion Lead, or SEND Teacher
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Experience working within a primary school setting
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children with additional needs
