Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or Care Worker with a genuine passion for supporting children with complex SEND needs?
We are currently working with a lovely specialist SEND school in Chichester who are looking for a caring, resilient and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their supportive team.
The school provides a nurturing and engaging environment for children with a range of complex special educational needs and disabilities, and they are looking for someone who can build strong relationships with pupils while providing consistent, patient and compassionate support.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils and the wider staff team to support their educational, personal and emotional development. You may be supporting children on a 1:1 basis, in small groups or as part of the wider classroom team.
The role would suit someone who has either a strong SEND background or previous experience within care, particularly someone who is confident supporting individuals with complex needs.
You will need to be comfortable working with children who may display challenging behaviour and understand the importance of remaining calm, consistent and positive in these situations.
Experience supporting non-verbal children would be highly desirable, although training and support will be provided for the right person.
Has experience working with children or young people with SEND
Has a background in care, support work, education or a similar setting
Is confident supporting individuals with complex needs
Has experience managing or supporting challenging behaviour
Is patient, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure
Can build positive and trusting relationships with children
Understands that communication can take many different forms
Is caring, compassionate and genuinely wants to make a difference
Can work effectively as part of a supportive team
Has experience supporting non-verbal pupils (desirable)
