SEND Teaching Assistant – Croydon

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with SEND, SEMH and challenging behaviour?

Pink Tile Education are working with a specialist primary school in the Croydon area who are looking for a confident, resilient and nurturing SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This role would suit someone who is passionate about behaviour management, emotional regulation and helping children overcome barriers to learning.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including SEMH and challenging behaviour.

A key part of the role will be supporting pupils to manage their behaviour and emotions, while implementing effective strategies to encourage positive choices and engagement with learning.

You will be expected to:

  • Support pupils with SEND, SEMH and challenging behaviour.
  • Implement effective behaviour-management strategies.
  • Help identify triggers and patterns behind challenging behaviour.
  • Use positive, consistent approaches to de-escalate and manage behaviour.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and social development.
  • Develop positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Use problem-solving skills to adapt your approach to individual pupils.
  • Work closely with teachers and other school staff to maintain consistent strategies.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence and engagement in learning.
  • Contribute to a safe, calm and supportive classroom environment.

About You

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Able to think on their feet and use problem-solving skills effectively.
  • Consistent and confident in maintaining appropriate boundaries.

  • A strong communicator who works well as part of a team.
  • Passionate about helping children achieve their potential.

Previous experience working within SEND, SEMH, specialist education, challenging behaviour, youth work, residential care or a similar setting is desirable.

Candidates with strong transferable experience will also be considered.
