Pink Tile Education are working with a supportive specialist setting in Surrey, who are looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Teaching Assistant to join their team.
You will be supporting children and young people aged 5–16, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop both academically and personally.
You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to provide individual and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs.
The children you will support may have:
Autism / ASD
ADHD
SEMH needs
Complex learning needs
Moderate learning difficulties
Communication and language difficulties
Non-verbal communication needs
Challenging or distressed behaviour
Social, emotional and behavioural difficulties
You will need to be comfortable working with children who may display challenging behaviour and be able to remain calm, patient and consistent in different situations.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
Supporting pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis
Helping children engage with learning and classroom activities
Supporting children with emotional regulation and behaviour
Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Supporting communication and independence
Helping pupils develop confidence and life skills
Working closely with teachers and other professionals
Supporting pupils to achieve their individual goals
Providing consistent and nurturing support throughout the school day
We are looking for someone who is:
Experienced working with SEND, SEN or SEMH
Confident supporting children with challenging behaviour
Patient, calm and resilient
Compassionate and empathetic
Able to build positive relationships with children and young people
A strong communicator
Reliable and committed
Comfortable working as part of a wider school team
Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning
Previous experience within a specialist school, SEND setting, primary school, secondary school, alternative provision or similar environment would be highly beneficial.
Relevant qualifications are desirable, but experience and the right attitude are equally important.
