Are you an enthusiastic, proactive Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children and young people with SEND?

Pink Tile Education is working with a specialist school in Crawley that supports pupils aged 2–19 with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The school is looking for a confident, energetic and committed Teaching Assistant who is happy to get involved, support pupils across different classes and make a positive difference to their daily learning experiences.

This is an active, hands-on role that would suit someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a busy school environment and is confident supporting pupils with additional needs.

About the role

You may be based within one class or asked to provide support across different areas of the school, depending on the needs of the pupils and the wider team.

No two days will necessarily be the same! You’ll be supporting pupils throughout their school day, helping them access lessons, develop independence and engage in a range of educational and practical activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting children and young people with a range of SEND and SEMH needs.

  • Helping pupils access learning activities and participate in lessons.

  • Managing challenging behaviour calmly, confidently and consistently.

  • Building positive relationships with pupils and encouraging engagement.

  • Supporting pupils’ communication, social development and independence.

  • Getting involved in a variety of lessons and activities, including swimming.

  • Following individual support plans and behaviour management strategies.

  • Working flexibly across the school or within a consistent class, depending on requirements.

  • Taking a proactive approach and anticipating where support is needed.

  • Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to create a safe, positive learning environment.

Who are we looking for?

To be considered for this role, you must have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND.

We’re particularly interested in candidates who are:

  • Confident with behaviour management and able to remain calm and consistent when situations become challenging.

  • Proactive, energetic and happy to get involved in all aspects of school life.

  • Flexible and comfortable supporting pupils across different classes and age groups.

  • Willing to participate in practical activities, including swimming.

  • Patient, resilient and nurturing, with a genuine passion for helping pupils thrive.

  • Confident building positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.

  • Reliable, adaptable and able to use their initiative.

  • Happy working in an active role where you may be on your feet and involved throughout the day.

Experience within a special school, alternative provision or SEMH setting would be beneficial.

What’s on offer?

  • £99 per day, including 12.07% PAYE holiday pay.

  • Consistent weekday hours, 8:30am–3:45pm.

  • An immediate start.

  • Experience working within a specialist school supporting pupils aged 2–19.

  • A varied, active role where you can develop your SEND experience.

  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to pupils’ learning, confidence and independence.

Interested?

If you have SEND experience, are confident managing behaviour and want a varied, hands-on role where you can make a genuine difference, we’d love to hear from you.
