SEND Teaching Assistant – Portsmouth

Full Time | Immediate Start | £14.25 per hour

We are recruiting for a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional learning needs within a specialist educational environment in Portsmouth.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve success both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support for pupils with SEND requirements
  • Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions
  • Assist students with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
  • Support pupils within the classroom and during wider school activities
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and specialist professionals

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience supporting SEND pupils is advantageous
  • Backgrounds in education, care, youth work, support work, or coaching are welcomed
  • Calm, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people
  • Strong commitment to inclusion and pupil wellbeing
